Promotion of Youth Development

The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) has been making efforts to promote youth development.  The department has all along been striving to organise and participate in various activities to enhance students’ understanding of official statistical work and enrich their statistical knowledge, so as to facilitate their whole-person development and widen their perspective for better life planning.  These activities include:

  • Professional Attachment Programme
  • Mentorship Programme
  • Statistical Talks for Secondary School Students
  • Statistical Project Competition for Secondary School Students Organised by the Hong Kong Statistical Society
  • ArcGIS StoryMaps Application Competition

C&SD also provides the youth with opportunities to engage in government statistical affairs.  The Statistics Advisory Board has joined Phase VI of the Member Self-recommendation Scheme for Youth, which is one of the key initiatives of youth development set out in the Chief Executive's 2022 Policy Address and the Youth Development Blueprint, as one of the participating government advisory committees.  Through the scheme, young people can self-nominate to become members of the Board.
