Mentorship Programme

The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) has set up a Departmental Mentoring Team which collaborates with participating secondary schools in launching the Mentorship Programme focusing on career aspiration and training.  The programme comprises a series of workshops and career-focused activities that provide useful career information for students (mentees), with a view to helping them better understand their interest and set their life goals under the guidance of mentors.

In the 2023/24 academic year, the Departmental Mentoring Team organised four school activities for Buddhist Hung Sean Chau Memorial College, Stewards Pooi Kei College and St. Paul’s Secondary School respectively, involving a total of about 50 mentees.  The Departmental Mentoring Team also arranged the mentees to visit the C&SD Headquarters to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the government statistical work.

“Mock Interview” game let the mentees experience the interview challenges they may encounter in their future studies or careers.

"Life Auction" game let the mentees think about their priorities in life and find their self-worth.

The Commissioner for Census and Statistics, Mr Leo YU, encouraged the mentees to make life planning early and enhance their soft skills so as to equip themselves for integration into the community after graduation.
