Background
Talks on statistics for secondary school students have been organised by the department since 1996. These talks, delivered by officers in the statistical grades, introduce commonly used statistical methods and data, covering such areas as population statistics, external trade statistics, national income statistics, labour force statistics and price statistics. Some of these topics are also included in the syllabuses for such school subjects as "Liberal Studies" and "Economics". After attending the talks, students will be able to gain a better understanding of official statistics in Hong Kong, their proper interpretation and application of such statistics.
