The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) enters its 50th Anniversary in 2017. To mark the Golden Jubilee, C&SD organised a seminar as a highlight event amongst various commemorative activities. The Seminar was held at Wang Gungwu Lecture Hall of The University of Hong Kong on 28 April 2017. The theme of the Seminar is “Application of Official Statistics in Public Policy”, focusing on the usefulness of statistics in helping the society to resolve issues. The distinguished speakers included Professor Denise LIEVESLEY, Principal of Green Templeton College of University of Oxford, Professor LIU Pak-wai, Research Professor of Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance and Emeritus Professor of Economics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Frederick HO Wing-huen, Honorary Professor of Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science of The University of Hong Kong as well as Adjunct Professor of Department of Statistics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
