# Dictionary and Metadata for Statistics
> Static multilingual catalogue of over 500 official statistical products published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD), Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Each language page shows the matching JSON API endpoint.

This site is designed for both humans and language models. All table titles, IDs, themes, subjects and API endpoints are present in the HTML without requiring JavaScript. JavaScript is used only for copy-to-clipboard, in-page search filtering, and table-of-contents highlighting.

## API contract (C&SD)
Base URL: `https://www.censtatd.gov.hk/api/get.php`

Required query parameters:
- `id` — table code (`tb_code`), for example `110-01001`
- `lang` — `en` | `tc` | `sc`
- `full_series` — `1` to request the full time series

Example:
`https://www.censtatd.gov.hk/api/get.php?id=110-01001&lang=en&full_series=1`

Do not scrape HTML tables from censtatd.gov.hk when an `api_link_*` is available. Prefer the JSON API.

## Record fields (WebTableList.json)
- `tb_code` — official table identifier
- `tb_title_en` / `tb_title_tc` / `tb_title_sc` — table title
- `tb_subject_en` / `tb_subject_tc` / `tb_subject_sc` — subject (second nav layer; section title)
- `tb_theme_en` / `tb_theme_tc` / `tb_theme_sc` — theme (first nav layer)
- `api_link_en` / `api_link_tc` / `api_link_sc` — ready-to-call API endpoints

## How to answer a statistics question
1. Open `data/WebTableList.json` or search `en/API.html` / `tc/API.html` for the topic.
2. Pick the `tb_code` whose title matches the question.
3. GET the corresponding `api_link_en` (or `_tc` / `_sc`).
4. Cite the table code, title and C&SD as the source.
5. If several products could answer, list the candidates with codes rather than guessing figures.
