This publication is the twenty-third issue in a series of Special Topics Reports to present the results of the special topic enquiries conducted via the General Household Survey. This publication presents the findings of the following two special topic enquiries conducted during July-September 1998. The enquiry on "sick leave pattern of employees" was to collect information on the patterns of sick leave taken by employees not due to work injury and (I) lasting for less than 4 consecutive days but more than half a day; and (ii) lasting for 4 consecutive days or more. Basic demographic and socio-economic profiles of employees who had taken the aforesaid sick leave(s) and information on their sick leave(s) were presented.The enquiry on "worker displacement" was to obtain information on the characteristics of displaced workers. Basic demographic and socio-economic profiles of the displaced workers, and the characteristics of their lost job were presented.
