Participation in Hong Kong Book Fair 2022
Taking the opportunity of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Census and Statistics Department, an exhibition booth was set up in Hong Kong Book Fair 2022 to promote public awareness of official statistics. The exhibition was held during 20-26 July 2022 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The booth presented key results of the 2021 Population Census and major differences in census operations between past and present (Details of the exhibitionpdf). Visitors were also attracted to the booth by the interactive computer quiz game. The exhibition received favourable responses from the public.
Seminar in Commemoration of the 55th Anniversary of Census and Statistics Department and the 45th Anniversary of Hong Kong Statistical Society: Perspectives on Uncertainty and Error of Statistics

The year 2022 marks the 55th Anniversary of the Census and Statistics Department and the 45th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Statistical Society. The two organisations had jointly organised a statistical seminar in commemoration of this special occasion of the Hong Kong statistical community.

The Seminar was held at Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 11 November 2022, with live streaming for online participation. The theme of the Seminar is “Perspectives on Uncertainty and Error in Statistics”, covering the three sessions as given below and in the brochure of the Seminar.

The Seminar was favourably received by around 500 participants, including members of the academia, secondary school teachers of mathematics/economics/citizenship and social development/liberal studies, users of official statistics and staff members of the Government Statistical Service.
