- Only sampled households will need to respond to the 2026 Population Census. Sampled households will receive notification letter in purple envelope issued by the C&SD.
- The C&SD WILL NOT call or send email or SMS message to households unless they have contacted the C&SD before.
- ONLY Census Hotline 18 2026 is displayed when census officers call the households in Hong Kong.
- The C&SD WILL ONLY use the Sender ID “#C&SD” to send SMS message in Hong Kong.
- The C&SD WILL NOT ask respondents to submit password in any telephone call, email or SMS message, and WILL NOT embed hyperlinks in unsolicited email or SMS message.
- The C&SD WILL NOT ask for information about HKID, bank account or credit card.
- Report suspicious deception cases to Census Hotline 18 2026.
- When in doubt, call Anti-Scam Helpline 18222. This 24-hour hotline is operated by the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force.
