Protection of Personal Data Privacy

The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) has been strictly enforcing various measures on protection of privacy and data security to ensure that information collected in the surveys regarding individuals or individual establishments will be kept in strict confidence and used for statistical purposes only.  The general public can rest assured to provide data to this Department to facilitate the compilation of relevant and accurate statistics for use by the Government and various sectors, thereby contributing to the high-quality social and economic development of Hong Kong.

C&SD strictly complies with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and adopts multiple layers of security measures, including the formulation of security policies and procedures, the use of technology and the promotion of security awareness among staff, to protect personal data and prevent data leakage.
