Abstract

In order to meet the requests from Government policy bureaux and departments for statistical data on various social issues, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) started a series of Thematic Household Survey (THS) in 1999 such that certain enquiries for statistical information on social topics proposed by individual bureaux / departments would be packaged together to form different rounds of THS and contracted-out to private research firms. An enquiry on IT usage and penetration was conducted in Q2 2002 round of THS to collect information on the penetration of personal computer (PC) and Internet among households, and also the utilization of PC, Internet service, Chinese input methods, electronic business services and online Government services among household members.

	The price of publications in physical media (i.e. Print version or CD-ROM version) does not include postage. Postage will be calculated based on the weight of the package and the delivery address.
