Abstract

This publication is the forty-eighth issue in a series of Special Topics Reports. It presents the findings of a territory-wide survey on persons with disabilities and chronic diseases conducted during November 2006 to December 2007. This survey was to (a) estimate the total number and prevalence rate of persons with selected types of disability and chronic diseases; (b) furnish information on the demographic and socio-economic profiles of persons with disabilities and chronic diseases; and (c) furnish information about people who provided care to those persons with disabilities and chronic diseases. Basic demographic and socio-economic profiles of persons with disabilities and chronic diseases, severity of their disability, impact of disabilities and chronic diseases on day-to-day living, characteristics of their carer and transport arrangement were presented in this publication.
