Abstract

This publication is the thirty-seventh issue in a series of Special Topics Reports. It presents the results of two special topic enquiries conducted via the General Household Survey during July to September 2003, viz. (1) The enquiry "Patterns of hours of work of employees" : presenting information pertaining to employees working in the non-government sector (including those working in the private sector, subvented organizations and statutory bodies) on the contractual hours of work and usual hours of work in their present job. Information on the average hours of work, and paid and unpaid overtime work performed by these employees during the 7 days before enumeration was also provided; and (2) The enquiry "Part-time employment" : presenting information on the characteristics and employment situation pertaining to part-time employees.
