Abstract

This publication is the thirty-second issue in a series of Special Topics Reports. It presents the results of two special topic enquiries conducted via the General Household Survey during July to September 2001, viz. (1) The enquiry "Patterns of hours of work of employees" : presenting information pertaining to employees working in the non-government sector (including those working in the private sector, subvented organizations and statutory bodies) on the contractual hours of work and usual hours of work in their present job, the average hours of work, and paid and unpaid overtime work during the week before enumeration; and (2) The enquiry "Benefits of employees under the Employment Ordinance" : presenting information on the characteristics (e.g. age, sex, industry and occupation currently engaged in) of employees working in the non-government sector, the existing employment benefits provided to them by their employers, and the patterns of sick leave and maternity leave taken by them.
