Abstract

This publication presents the projections of population distribution by three geographical demarcation systems (namely, District Council District, New Town and Tertiary Planning Unit) as well as the projected age structure of each District Council District and New Town. Projections for the whole ten-year period from 2009 to 2018 are presented for the District Council Districts and New Towns, while projections by the Tertiary Planning Unit are given for 2009 to 2014. An outline of the projection methodology is also provided for easy reference. The population distribution projections are compiled based on the projected population for overall Hong Kong released by the Census and Statistics Department in July 2007 and latest planning information.
