Abstract

This publication presents the projections of population distribution by three geographical demarcation systems (namely, District Council District, New Town and Tertiary Planning Unit) as well as the projected population of each District Council District and New Town by quinquennial age group. For the District Council Districts as well as the New Towns/Other Areas in the New Territories, population projections are given for the ten-year period from 2007 to 2016 whereas population projections by the Tertiary Planning Unit are available for the years 2007 to 2012. An outline of the projection methodology is also provided for easy reference. The distribution projections were made with respect to the projected total population of Hong Kong as prepared and released by the Census and Statistics Department in July 2007.
