Abstract

The life table is a statistical device used by statisticians, actuaries, demographers, public health workers and many others to present the mortality experience of a population. It is a valuable tool for studying longevity and for comparing the mortality experience of different countries/territories at a point in time and the mortality level of a population over time. In this publication, the life tables for the years 1998 to 2003 are compiled based on actual mortality data. For the future benchmark years 2008, 2013, 2018, 2023, 2028 and 2033, the life tables are compiled based on projected age-sex specific mortality rates.
