| Abstract |
| The container throughput of the port of Hong Kong increased from 24.0 million TEUs in 2007 to 24.5 million TEUs in 2008, maintaining its status as one of the busiest ports in the world. Laden container movements between Hong Kong and the mainland of China (the Mainland) accounted for 36% of the laden container throughput of the port of Hong Kong in 2008. Furthermore, about 71% of these Mainland-Hong Kong laden container movements were between Hong Kong and the ports in the Pearl River Delta region. This article analyses the container statistics of the port of Hong Kong during the period 2003 to 2008. |
