Abstract
On average, there were 41 road traffic accidents each day in Hong Kong in 2006, involving 52 casualties and 61 vehicles. Based on the road traffic accident data collected by the Hong Kong Police Force and maintained by the Transport Department, this article presents the trends of road traffic casualties and accidents in the past ten years, and the characteristics of road users and vehicles involved. It aims to give readers a better understanding about the recent road traffic accident situation in Hong Kong.
