| Abstract |
The container throughput of the port of Hong Kong reached a record high of 22.0 million TEUs in 2004, making it once again the world's busiest container port for the year. Laden container movements between Hong Kong and the mainland of China accounted for 34% of the laden container throughput of the port of Hong Kong in 2004. Furthermore, about 74% of these Mainland - Hong Kong laden container movements were between Hong Kong and the ports in the Pearl River Delta region. This article analyses the container statistics of the port of Hong Kong during the period 1999 to 2004. |
