| Abstract |
| In 2009, Hong Kong residents made 70.6 million person-trips to the Mainland for business and personal purposes. Of all the trips to the Mainland, business travel accounted for 31% (or 21.6 million person-trips) and personal travel for 69% (or 49.0 million person-trips).
Analyses of consumption expenditure of Hong Kong residents making personal travel to the mainland of China were first introduced in the April 2001 issue of this Digest in the form of a feature article. Updates of the analyses are provided annually in this Digest. This article presents analyses of the latest trend of cross-boundary travel and the consumption expenditure of Hong Kong residents travelling to the mainland of China. |
