Abstract

Many advanced economies have undergone significant changes in recent years. One of the key characteristics of the changes is the growing importance of knowledge in all sectors of economic activities. The incorporation of information and knowledge into economic activities is inducing profound structural and qualitative changes in the way an economy operates. This article aims at portraiting the development of Hong Kong in the past decade from different perspectives of a knowledge-based economy (KBE) by presenting some relevant statistical indicators which capture the essence of a KBE.
