Abstract

This publication presents detailed annual statistics on the structure and operating characteristics of the transport and related services industries which help readers perform in-depth analysis on the industries. For many years, Hong Kong is one of the busiest container ports, and the busiest international air cargo handling centre in the world. In view of this, starting from the Report on 2007 Annual Survey of Transport and Related Services, statistics on business performance and operating characteristics of the logistics sector are provided. This publication is one of the reports releasing detailed sectoral statistics from the Census and Statistics Department. Each report covers some selected industries and other reports in this series include Report on Annual Survey of Wholesale, Retail and Import and Export Trades, Restaurants and Hotels; Report on Annual Surveys of Storage, Communication, Banking, Financing, Insurance and Business Services; Report on Annual Survey of Building, Construction and Real Estate Sectors; and Report on Annual Survey of Industrial Production. Complementing each other, together they form a comprehensive series of statistical reference on different economic sectors of Hong Kong. Starting from the survey reference period of 2009, the Annual Survey of Transport and Related Services has been integrated with the related surveys to form the new Annual Survey of Economic Activities. The relevant statistics are published in Key Statistics on Business Performance and Operating Characteristics of the Transportation, Storage and Courier Services Sector.
