"Hong Kong 2001 Population Census Thematic Report - Single Parents" published
A publication "Hong Kong 2001 Population Census Thematic Report - Single Parents" is released today (December 30) by the Census and Statistics Department.
From October 2001 to now, a total of eighteen publications on the results of the 2001 Population Census, including 6 thematic reports, were released. This is the final one among the series of thematic reports from the 2001 Population Census. Thematic reports published earlier cover youths, women and men, older persons, ethnic minorities and persons from the Mainland having resided in Hong Kong for less than 7 years.
Population Census is the primary source of data for small geographical areas and population sub-groups. It provides a wealth of data on the socio-economic characteristics of the population in Hong Kong, thus allowing studies to be undertaken on various facets of the community and specific sub-groups of the population.
The report "Hong Kong 2001 Population Census Thematic Report - Single Parents" provides a comprehensive range of statistics of single parents in Hong Kong. It goes into some length in analysing the characteristics of single parents: demographic characteristics, education, labour force, household and housing, children aged under 18, and geographical distribution. Comparisons are also made with results of the past population census/by-census. The summary of the report can be downloaded from the website of the Census and Statistics Department (Address: http://www.info.gov.hk/censtatd/).
This report is in bilingual form and is available at $36 per copy. It can be purchased in person from:
