The Census and Statistics Department jointly organised the “Sub-regional Course on Measuring and Improving Survey Quality” with the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) in Hong Kong from 18.10.2010 to 22.10.2010. The course was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the key factors affecting survey quality and the techniques for minimising survey errors at various stages of survey processes. The participants also took the opportunity to share with each other their work practices and experience in measuring and improving survey quality in the respective national statistical offices (NSOs).
A total of 26 professional statisticians from NSOs in Asia and the Pacific region working in the related subject areas attended the course. They included 13 statisticians and research managers from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, 5 from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, 5 from the Statistics and Census Service of the Macao Special Administrative Region, 2 from the Singapore Department of Statistics and 1 from the Department of Statistics of Malaysia.
