A publication "Hong Kong 2001 Population Census Thematic Report - Youths" is released today (July 10) by the Census and Statistics Department.

This report, based on the results of the 2001 Population Census, provides an insight into youths aged 15-24 in Hong Kong. Apart from presenting a comprehensive range of statistics of youths in Hong Kong, the report goes into some length in analyzing the characteristics of youths in such aspects as demographic characteristics, education, labour force, living arrangement and housing, and geographical distribution. Comparisons are also made with results of the past population census/by census.

The report is in bilingual form and is available at $36 per copy. It can be purchased in person from:

(i) Government Publications Centre, Ground Floor, Low Block, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong (Tel.: 2537 1910); or
(ii) Publications Unit of the Census and Statistics Department, 19th Floor, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (Tel.: 2582 3025).

Internet users may purchase the report online at the "Statistical Bookstore, Hong Kong" with payment made instantly. Softcopies of the report purchased are available for immediate downloading while hardcopies purchased will be delivered by mail. The Statistical Bookstore is hosted on the ESD portal together with other public services.

A mail order form for ordering hardcopies of the report is available in most publications of the Census and Statistics Department. It may be completed and sent back together with a cheque or bank draft covering all necessary cost and postage. The order form is also available for downloading from the website of the Department.

This report is one among a series of the thematic reports on population sub-groups. Other thematic reports on population sub-groups like women and men, elderly and so on, compiled using the results of the 2001 Population Census, will be published in stages shortly.
