Tourism is an important economic activity in Hong Kong. In particular, inbound tourism is one of the major income earners. Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) is an effective statistical method for measuring the economic contribution of tourism and serves as an important basis for calculating its economic effects.

The major results of the TSA for Hong Kong's inbound tourism in 2000, 2003 and 2006 were published in a feature article "Tourism Satellite Account for Inbound Tourism of Hong Kong"in the March 2008 issue of the Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics. Relevant statistics follow closely the compilation framework of TSA recommended by the World Tourism Organisation, with local adaptation mainly on product classification and industry classification.
