  Chain Volume Measures of Gross Domestic Product by Economic Activity for the Fourth Quarter and the Whole Year of 2009  
  Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 2.6% in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2009 from a year earlier, in contrast to the 2.2% decrease in the third quarter. For 2009 as a whole, GDP contracted by 2.7% in real terms over 2008. Among the service sectors, the net output in financing and insurance sector increased by 1.4% in real terms compared with the marginal decrease of 0.4% in 2008. The increase registered in 2009 was attributable to the revival in financial market activities and the notable rebound of the local property market since the second quarter of 2009.

  Unemployment and Underemployment Statistics for December 2009 - February 2010  
  The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 4.9% in November 2009 - January 2010 to 4.6% (provisional figure) in December 2009 - February 2010. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate declined from 2.2% to 2.1% (provisional figure).

  In January 2010, the volume of Hong Kongˇ¦s total exports and imports of goods increased by 18.5% and 37.1% respectively over a year earlier. The prices of total exports of goods increased by 2.2%. Concurrently, those of imports of goods increased by 2.6%.

  In the fourth quarter of 2009, 35% of Hong Kong's total exports to the mainland of China were for outward processing. The proportion was 25% for domestic exports and 35% for re-exports.

  Survey results of 2009 Annual Earnings and Hours Survey released  
  According to the statistics released today (March 18) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD), there were 2 776 600 employees in Hong Kong (excluding live-in domestic workers, employees in the Government, employers and self-employed persons) in the second quarter of 2009, and the median hourly wage of these employees was $58.5.

  In the fourth quarter of 2009, the Gross National Product (GNP) decreased by 0.7% over a year earlier to $456.2 billion. For 2009 as a whole, GNP decreased by 4.3% over 2008 to $1,682.9 billion. The External Factor Income Flows (EFIF) recorded a net inflow of $10.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009. For 2009 as a whole, EFIF also recorded a net inflow of $49.4 billion.
