Notes : The value index measures the changes in value terms, while the volume index is derived from the value index by adjusting for price changes.
 In conjunction with the rebasing of the rebasing of the Composite Consumer Price Index, the series of value and volume indices of restaurant receipts have been re-referenced, taking October 2014 to September 2015 as the new reference period and adopting the relevant components of the 2014/15-based Composite Consumer Price Index as deflators for compiling the volume index of restaurant receipts. The volume index of restaurant receipts is compiled based on the chain-linking approach as stipulated in the System of National Accounts 2008 adopted by the United Nations Statistics Division. The value and volume indices of restaurant receipts contained in this statistical table and their year-on-year rates of change (including those for earlier quarters back to the fourth quarter of 2004) are compiled based on the re-referenced series. It should be noted that while the year-on-year rates of change in the volume index of restaurant receipts have been changed in the re-referenced series relative to those with October 2009 to September 2010 as the base period, the corresponding year-on-year rates of change in the value index of restaurant receipts are not affected. Users may also download " 2009/10-based statistics" for reference.
 Monthly figures of restaurant receipts are collected at quarterly intervals as from the reference quarter of Q1 2008. Related information is released on a quarterly basis. Users may download "Monthly breakdown figures" for reference.
 The above restaurant receipts statistics are compiled based on the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification (HSIC) Version 2.0 and the series has been backcasted to Q4 2004 whereas the statistics prior to Q4 2004 are based on HSIC Version 1.1. Users may also download "HSIC Version 1.1-based statistics" for reference.
