With strict adherence to integrity and objectivity, our department is committed to providing high-quality statistical services to facilitate informed research, discussion, planning and decision-making in the Government and various sectors of the community.  Since 2018, we have been actively exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science in official statistics to drive digital transformation in the era of big data.  After several years of development, we have achieved remarkable results in relevant work.  You are welcome to browse the “Data Science Corner” of this website for details of our achievements.  We will continue to optimise and promote the use of AI and data science in order to further enhance the operational efficiency and the quality of statistical services.  Besides, we actively collaborate with other government bureaux and departments to share our knowledge and experience in adopting AI and data science, and to assist them in developing relevant applications in their work.

We have all along accorded high priority to rendering client-oriented professional services to both our data suppliers and data users.  For data suppliers, they are most welcome to respond to our surveys using the Online Questionnaire System.  Our data collection teams also offer proactive assistance.  For data users, we have continuously enhanced the browsing experience of this website.  To this end, customisation function and web Application Programming Interface have been introduced to the Web Tables.  We have also launched subject-based Interactive Data Dissemination Services (IDDSs) to allow data users to build their own statistical tables and charts from detailed trade statistics and population census/by-census results.  Building on the success of these IDDSs, we have further launched the Common-IDDS to enable data users to conduct cross-subject analysis flexibly through integrating statistical data of different subjects.

This website contains a wealth of statistics covering various social and economic aspects of Hong Kong.  We hope you will find them useful and informative.  We welcome your comments and suggestions on this website and our statistical services.
